Happy New Year

December 29th, 2014 by jon

2014 is coming to a close and like any year CPT had its fair share of ups and downs.  Fortunately for us, the ups far outweighed the downs!  I feel that in the last decade, the way businesses operate has evolved, and we are truly blessed to be a small business in America during this [...]

Blackhawks Receive Championship Rings & Pizza

September 30th, 2013 by jon

Awhile back we teased you with a post that a Blackhawks player was going to be cruising from pizzeria to pizzeria via Dough Force One.  Well that day came last week, and we were fortunate to have contest winners from WGN Radio and Jimmy Hayes #22 Right Winger See Chicago One Slice At A Time! [...]

Blackhawk’s win Stanley Cup – “I’m going to take a pizza tour!”

July 24th, 2013 by jon

Typically when any professional championships are won, you hear the old standby “I’m going to Disney World” but hockey is different.  This year, in one of the most grueling yet dominating playoff runs I have ever witnessed, the Chicago Blackhawks emerged victorious.  In doing so, Chicago Pizza Tours did as well.  Let me explain, working [...]

CPT Turned 3, Now Heading Into 4th Season

May 8th, 2013 by jon

Well, it was about a week ago that we here at Chicago Pizza Tours celebrated our 3rd birthday and look forward to all the 4th season has to offer.  Without getting too sappy, here is what I’ve got to say about that. Thank you -to the thousands and thousands of customers that said “this looks [...]

Blue Demons Crave Chicago Style Knowledge

April 22nd, 2013 by jon

If you’ve taken the tour, and we dragged you through Lincoln Park on your pizza journey, you’ve undoubtedly seen and heard us talk about DePaul University.  While none of the guides (including myself) are alumnus of DePaul, it certainly is a point of pride for many of us as we drive to Pequod’s or Nella’s. [...]

Flo & Santo’s – South Loop Tavern Style

February 8th, 2013 by jon

A trend that I’m starting to notice with pizzerias featured on Chicago Pizza Tours is innovation with regards to the pizza toppings. As a company, our goal is to provide our guests with culturally significant & neighborhood pizzerias. The culturally significant ones are the classics that have been here forever, and have put a real [...]

Don’t Tell Me You’re Cutting Out Pizza For Your “Diet”!

January 9th, 2013 by jon

So I was really taken aback when I woke up perfectly fine on 12/22/12 and realized that the easel Mayan Calendar my grandfather received at a company party, was now officially outdated.  Worst Apocalypse Ever!  I’ve had it since I was a kid and probably figured that by 2013 we’d have flying cars, instead we’re [...]

Office Party

December 27th, 2012 by jon

Aren’t office party stories the best?  I live for the embarrassing stories that accompany getting drunk with your coworkers.  That being said, we are a small company, and rarely would any of us be embarrassed by anything we might do.  Chicago Pizza Tours Merry Christmas 2012 decided to invade one of our newest additions to [...]

Coalfire & Publican Quality Meats Bring The ‘Nduja

November 2nd, 2012 by jon

Here’s a situation where we have an innovative pizzeria, teaming up with Publican Quality Meats, Chicago’s best contemporary butcher, to turn out a pizza that literally no one else is making or for that matter even thought to create.  To figure out how we got here lets take a look back for a minute. Everyone [...]

Steve Harvey Loves Chicago Pizza

October 3rd, 2012 by jon

Chicago | NBC Tower | Former set of Jerry Springer There’s a new sherif in town now with regards to the day time talk show, we are decades (plural?) away from “Jerry, Jerry, Jerry”.  The thing I remember most from my trip to the Springer show in ’97 was that Raspberry was playin 3 women [...]

Gino’s East Sports Bar Opens In Printer’s Row

September 18th, 2012 by jon

Gino’s East was established back in 1966 when a couple of cab drivers and their friend decided that they’d had enough of driving cabs in rush hour traffic and wanted to get their hands on some serious pizza dough.  These guys knew nothing about making pizza, but knew they could find someone that did, and [...]

Pizza Fest – Chicago

June 30th, 2012 by jon

Most people that tell you “Chicago is the greatest city in the world” usually refer to the summer months that play host to countless festivals all weekend long.  This summer got started off a bit early back in March, YES March is when we hit the 80 degree mark this year, and we are full [...]

National Restaurant Association

May 24th, 2012 by jon

In early May, Chicago hosted the NRA show.  Nothing to do with guns, this is the National Restaurant Association show and it is one of the most enjoyable trade shows to attend, even if you have nothing to do with the industry.   I remember being fresh out of college, around 21 or 22 years [...]

2012 International Pizza Expo Las Vegas

March 28th, 2012 by jon

March 13 – 15 was the International Pizza Expo at the Las Vegas convention center, people this is like DISNEY WORLD for pizza enthusiasts.  So much to show and tell that there is no way I could put it into a blog post but I’ll try and summarize.

Measuring Stick Pizza

March 1st, 2012 by jon

You don’t have to look very far to get pizza opinions, everyone’s got em and they are all subjective and worthy of being shared.  One of the topics I try to bring up with our guests when they are judging pies on the tour is that there are no right or wrong answers.  There has to be a reason why everyone can be right, well a wise person once told me that whatever the first pizza you fell in love with as a kid… that is the pizza that you use to judge going forward.

Happy Birthday Driver Jim

February 15th, 2012 by jon

Now I am not going to say how old you are… but this is quite a landmark birthday you are celebrating today.  Best from the staff at CPT!

Defining Chicago Style Pizza

January 26th, 2012 by jon

I meet thousands of people in my line of work every year. By taking those people on bus tours of culturally significant pizzerias in Chicago, I tend to run into some interesting questions, the most common of which is, “What’s your favorite pizza?”

Delivering pies to CFD

January 16th, 2012 by admin

On Saturday 1/14/12, we dropped off some pizzas at a local fire station during the tour.  The firemen then gave us a tour and let me slide down the pole.  This was unexpected, unplanned, and totally rad!
